A 1D coordination polymer, {[Zn((1,5)-dca)(2)(PZA)(2)](PZA)(2)}(n) (1), has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The coordination modes of the dicyanamide (dca) and the pyrazinamide (PZA) were inferred by IR spectroscopy. The complex was applied to organic electroluminescent (EL) devices as the emitting materials. The electroluminescent device of ITO/NPB (40nm)/Zn polymer: CBP (30nm) (30nm)/BCP (15nm)/Alq (30nm)/LiF (1nm)/Al (100nm) was fabricated. The EL device emits cyan light originating from this complex with high brightness and efficiencies. For 1, a maximum luminance of 34.9cd/A was achieved at 9V.
