Lothcháin (died 1024) is credited with a relatively substantial corpus of
poetry in medieval Irish sources, as well as with a position as ‘chief poet’ to
Máel Sechlainn mac Domnaill in more modern writings. This paper will summarise
an interrogation of these poetic attributions, and of what his work can tell us
about his putative affiliation with the Clann Cholmáin.
