Global Women's Studies at NUIG contributed substantially to the drafting of the Irelandís National Action Plan for Implementation of UNSCR 1325, 2011 - 2014. Dr. Nata Duvvury was engaged by the Department of Foreign affairs and Trade as an independent drafter to prepare the initial draft of NAP completed in 2011. Nominated by the National Women's Council of Ireland, Dr. Niamh Reilly served as an independent academic member of the Government-NGO consultative committee (2010-2011) convened by the DFAT to produce the NAP.† In this capacity, Dr. Reilly chaired the NGO Technical Working Group (TWG) of the committee, which provided research and technical support in the preparation of the draft.†† While primarily oriented toward areas of Irish foreign policy (peacekeeping and development aid), the NAP also includes significant provisions relating to domestic policy (rights of asylum seekers and migrants affected by conflict) and Anglo-Irish affairs.
