Waves can help with global warming problems: "As I point out from time-to-time, there's always something unusual in the sea and that has been underlined by researchers at NUI Galway who have found that waves breaking onshore can help to reduce the effects of global warming. They have been working together with colleagues in Italy and their findings are important because, up to now, global warming prediction models drawn up by climatologists have not taken the effects of sea spray into account. The spray from breaking waves contains organic matter in bubbles that rise to help form maritime clouds which block out incoming solar radiation. Professor Colin O'Dowd of the Environmental Change Institute at NUI Galway, outlined the findings to me." Tom McSweeney. RTE Radio One Seascapes
